Liam Redmond clinches famous victory

Diary Event

The Italian daily sports newspaper La Gazzetta Dello Sport led today (Saturday 30th June) with the banner headline “Il giorno degli dei” (the Day of the Gods). Supposedly a reference to two footballers strutting their stuff in Russia. However, just as likely to reference the golfing gods of Ballinascorney! The weather gods continued to smile and ensured that the event was bathed in glorious sunshine all day and the golfing gods served up a feast of pars and birdies. On a day of long drives, firm fairways and slick greens it was Liam Redmond who came from two shots behind with a brilliant round to just edge out first day co-leader Shea Boyce who finished second. Jim Kennedy stormed out of the pack for a brilliant third place while Jimmy Fitzachary took the prize for best gross with a masterful round.

Congratulations Liam and well done to all who took part over the two weekends. Congratulations also Captain Martin on a marvellous event we hope you enjoyed your week.
