The Men's Sunday Stableford saw our golfing standards rise to yet new heights.

Pre tee up FaceBook banter between Tom Hogan and Alan Hayden raised the competitive bar significantly ................. but it was Ger Redmond who stepped in to steal the show.

Ger reeled off 11 pars and a birdie for a gross five over par 76. While his birdie on the 5th was the highlight of the round it was his run of pars on the back nine that accelerated him clear of the field.

Tom Hogan claimed second place with his second 38 point round in two days. Now without doubt the undisputed form player in the club. This week he started with a par and added six more, with a birdie on the 11th thrown in for good measure! 76 points in 36 holes, not bad going!! And Facebook bragging rights secured to boot!!

Third place went to Alan Hayden, who having suffered through the first nine returned with seven pars after the turn.

If these three players meet in the Matchplay the Treasurer will be selling tickets!

Spare a thought for Mick O'Boyle and Ed Slattery who both returned 36 points but just not enough for a podium place.

23 players teed up today, a marked uptick in Sunday participation, great to see.

First medal of the season is next week. Paddy Power has Tom Hogan and Alan Hayden installed as joint favourites at 3/1, but Ger Redmond is well priced at 4's. Mick O'Boyle might be good for an each way bet at 12/1 (depends on which putter he uses!). My money is on Jimmy Fitzachary!
