A birdie on the 15th on Saturday proved to be the game changer for Denis Rigney as he swooped to take the weekly Saturday Stableford with a point to spare from Tom Hogan.

Pars on 5, 7 and 12 set Denis on his way and the birdie gave him breathing space in the closing stages. A brilliant 37 points on a day when scoring was at a premium (bit like Newcastle later on!).

Tom Hogan clinched second place just one point back. A difficult start for Tom, he had to wait until the third hole for a par and the fifth for a birdie! But six pars on the back nine rescued the round, but that extra point proved elusive.

Joe Lynch completed the podium with 35 points despite a difficult start. Two birdies on 10 and 13 combined with four pars brought Joe right back into contention as the round progressed. Pars proved elusive down the last four holes but Joe held on for third place.

Great golf on a glorious Saturday morning, well done all!
