The Spanish Armada May have swept all aside in Lahinch but if you wanted real excitement and real tension then Ballinascorney was the place to be this weekend!

A three way battle for the July medal with Denis Rigney sneaking it on the back nine. A brilliant 32 coming back for an overall net 70 just edged out brand new member Gerard Spain and much more longstanding member Tom Ryan. The medal was won with a brilliant birdie on 16 and then a final par on 18 which sealed a countback victory. Great round!

For Gerard this was his first medal competition since joining the club and what an impact! Gerard also carded 32 on the back nine but that birdie late on just eclipsed a magnificent effort.

Tom Ryan started with an excellent front nine of 34 but just couldn’t make the extra par needed for victory on the way home.

Three 70’s and as tight a finish as you could ask for, eat your heart out Irish Open!!

Looking forward to August already!
