The Management Committee would like to announce that after many years, many pints, many breakfasts, many lunches, many scones, many egg and chips, many post competition dinners, many celebratory dinners, many victory dinners, many rugby matches, many football matches and not so many Westmeath victories Finbar O'Mahony has advised the Club of his intention to retire with effect from the 28th February.

Finbar has welcomed members to our Club since 2006, always with a smile and a cheery welcome. He has been a hugely welcoming figure for new members and as a first point of contact for the Club he has been instrumental in helping newcomers settle in quickly and establish new friendships and golf partners. He is always quick to enquire after a round, effusive with his congratulations and generous with his commiserations............... and words of encouragement. His contribution to the well being of the Club has been immeasurable.

Of course, this is a major life milestone for Finbar and Joan and the Management Committee is delighted to offer the congratulations and best wishes of all the members as they embark on the next chapter. I am glad to advise that Finbar will not be lost to us entirely as he will continue to prowl the golf course as a member and, with more time to practice, no doubt a second major will soon become a reality!

Management Committee intend to honour Finbar's huge contribution to the Club when the health restrictions are eased and we can all come together again to celebrate appropriately. New catering arrangements are almost in place and will be announced to members well in advance of our return to the Clubhouse.

Go raibh maith agat Finbar.
