No response from NASA then but I am convinced that solar flares do strike twice The competition secretary had barely finished counting up Joe Greenes (I almost typed Jolene!) score when Martin Morris fired another one at him on Sunday.

Another card with only one point dropped, although this was on the 2nd. Pars on 1, 3 and 5 and three pointers on 6 and 7 produced an outward nine of 22 points, paltry really! Well it was when you review the back nine. Pars on 10 and 18 with three pointers on 15, 16 and 17 and no dropped points yields 25 points for the back nine, yes you read it, 25.

A total of 47 points, as Neil Armstrong said one small step for Martin Morris (well lots really) one giant leap for Ballinascorney Golf Club. An amazing round Martin, congratulations.

With apologies to Joe Greene, Joe you didn't even have the best score of the weekend!

Five points behind on 42 we had Kieran Corcoran. It is probably fair to say that 24 points after nine holes would suggest you were in pole position, and he was at the time. Pars on 3, 4, 6, 7, and 8 and a three pointer on 2 set Kieran up for a run at the back nine. Unfortunately or remarkably, pars on 14 and 18 just were not enough as Martin raced away.

Devon Loch impersonator Tom Ainsworth produced a superb 39 points, unfortunately on a weekend when 39 points got you a pair of socks. Pars on 3 and 9 and a three pointer on 2 earned 19 points on the way out. A birdie on twelve (driver, lob wedge and a putt) and pars on 11 and 13 gave Tom a sniff on the way back but dropped points on 17 and 18 produced a back nine of 20 points. A much sought after score on any weekend, well done Tom.
