Welcome to Ballinascorney Golf Club

Nestled in the foothills of the Dublin Mountains, Ballinascorney Golf Club offers a pleasant golfing experience and the warmest of welcomes to members and visitors alike. As one of the most enjoyable 9-hole courses in the country, Ballinascorney offers a challenge to all standards of golfer.

Founded in 1971, the club’s first home was Bohernabreena in County Dublin. The club moved to its current location in Kilmashogue Lane in Rathfarnham in 2002. Since then we have strived to continually improve the playing experience and in 2011 we completed an ambitious redevelopment and extension to the course which saw the construction of new greens and tee-boxes as well as the addition of two new par 5 holes.

Ballinascorney also boasts a very lively social scene with Thursday Night Mixed social golf running from April to September each year; an annual club trip to sunnier climes each spring; our social committee organise events throughout the year which include an away day of golf with an overnight stay at a selected club in Ireland each year, bingo and bridge nights throughout the year when the evenings draw in; We have regular friendly golf competitions such as the Monday Mixed Comp and also an Open Mixed Timesheet every Saturday and Sunday with seperate comps for Men and Ladies– which are sure to have you coming back for more golfing fun week after week.

The club agreed to implement The One Club Model after a vote by the members at a meeting in 2022. The model brings the men’s and women’s sections of the club together to form a single administrative structure, ensuring both genders are treated fairly and equally. It also guarantees the rights and entitlements of members are determined by membership category and not by gender. The management and sub committees of the club have worked tirelessly since then in changing the whole management structure and Constitution to comply with the One Club Model framework as directed by Golf Ireland. The club has been very successful in its endeavours and Ballinascorney Golf Club is only one of two golf clubs nationally that has fully implemented the model, and this has been confirmed by Golf Ireland.
In addition, Ballinascorney Golf Club also signed up to the Women in Golf Charter in 2024, an initiative instigated by the R&A (Royal and Ancient Golf Club at St. Andrews) in 2018. This has been adopted by Golf Ireland and all clubs in the United Kingdom. The aim is to increase the number of women and girls playing golf and working in golf. Signing up means committing to specific goals labelled under bronze, silver and gold commitments assigned by Golf Ireland. Ballinascorney Golf Club was awarded the Gold Certificate of achievement at the management meeting on the 9th of July 2024 by Neils Kilgannon from Golf Ireland. Two hundred and twenty clubs have signed up for the Charter but only 80 have received gold certification and we very proud to be one of those.

Our fully licenced bar is open during golfing hours and serves food for the weary golfer after a trip round the course. Visitors, societies and group outings are most welcome – contact the club on 01-4937755 for more details.
